Bedford, TX — Bedford has a brand new published author in the neighborhood.  Her name is Pam Pittard of the Bedford Parc community.  Pam became an author in October, 2012, with the publication of her book, Eagle in a Storm.  The book is a candid look at her yearlong treatment for cancer.  In a rare commonsense manner that everyone can identify with, Pam gives pointers and encouragement from firsthand experience on how to bear the trauma and indignity of one year battle with cancer.  Mrs. Pittard relates, “You do not know how you are going to react when you receive a diagnosis of cancer.  Life is full of challenges and what separates people is the choices they make when confronted with life-threatening news.”  Eagle in a Storm is the record of one courageous woman and how she endured a year of cancer treatment.  Her testimony will make your laugh, enlighten you, and inspire you to persevere regardless of your personal challenges, but especially if you are walking through a similar major life crisis.  Eagle in a Storm is finding a grateful audience of fellow cancer survivors as well as those who are find themselves charged with the care of a loved one diagnosed with the disease.  Pam’s upbeat attitude and passion for life radiate from every page of the book.  Even those who have not been touched by cancer are finding solace for their life from reading the book.  Whether it is cancer or any life-threatening circumstance, Eagle in a Storm by Pam Pittard is proving to be a handbook for perseverance in the face of the worst life can throw at you.

For her neighbors who do not know her, Pam Pittard was born near Goldthwaite, Texas where she graduated from high school.  Pam also graduated from Baylor University and began her teaching career at LeVega Elementary in Waco, Texas.  She taught first grade at Snow Heights Elementary School in North Richland Hills, Texas for 28 years. She was named Teacher of the Year for the Birdville ISD in 1990. In addition to teaching, Pam worked in the home building industry along side her husband, developed a parent support group for teenagers, and owned a school uniform company.  She also served as Director of Purchasing and Marketing for Scrubs, Etc.  She has been active in Circle of Friends, an organization benefitting cancer patients at Cooks Childrens’ Hospital.  Pam also volunteered as a hostess and travel companion for the Miss Texas Pageant.  She is still active in the Theta Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, professional teachers’ organization.  Pam and her husband, Knox, have been members of the First Baptist Church of Euless, Texas for over 40 years.  Knox and Pam have two sons and four grandchildren.  We celebrate with Pam this new achievement and her continued victory over cancer!
